Program Objectives

This program prepares a graduate in Electrical Engineering to acquire expertise in the area of Integrated Circuits. This program is fully dedicated and focused on the IC design knowledge and skills, each student in this program will do the real world tape out from project conception to the working silicon microchip under the guidance of faculty supervisor from university and industry experts.

Eligibility

Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, or Computer engineering, etc.), recognized by Pakistan Engineering Council. Minimum CGPA of 2.0 (Preferably 2.5 on a scale of 4.0) or at least 60% marks.

GRADUATE LEVEL COURSES

RTL: Synthesis and Physical Design

This course dives into digital RTL design with Verilog, physical synthesis, ASICs, FPGAs, HDL coding, and verification. Topics include synthesis, timing analysis, and chip layout & Designing.

Research Methodology

This course provides an overview of the research process, covering research planning, problem formulation, literature search, data analysis, research ethics, and findings presentation.

System-on-Chip (SoC): Packaging and Signal Integrity

This course explores signal integrity and packaging in IC design, covering chip interconnects, transmission lines, impedance matching, and EMI/EMC considerations.

Advanced Machine Learning

This course covers key concepts of machine learning, including supervised and unsupervised learning, neural networks, and support vector machines. Pre-requisites include Linear Algebra and Basic Programming.

RF Devices and Circuits

This course delves into PCB design and Integrated Circuit test setup for Radio Frequency applications. It covers schematic creation, power network design, and verification techniques for RF circuit development.

Digital Integrated Circuits

This course explores digital integrated circuits, covering Complementary metal-oxide semiconductor devices, logic circuits, and advanced layout techniques. Pre-requisites include basic courses in Electronics and Logic Design.

Analog and Discrete Electronics

This course covers analog and digital integrated circuits, emphasizing Complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology. Students gain hands-on experience through lab tutorials focused on circuit design and simulation.

Mixed Signal Integrated Circuits Design

The course of Mixed Signal Integrity, Packaging, and Chip Design provides an in-depth exploration of signal integrity principles, chip interconnects, and transmission line analysis, focusing on high-frequency circuit design.

Advance Embedded Systems and Networks

This course explores processor architectures and memory organization, focusing on WCET analysis, embedded software platforms, performance analysis, and memory hierarchy.It also covers embedded software platforms.

IC Design Project: From Concept to Tapeout

This project course involves designing and fabricating VLSI circuits using CMOS technology. It covers digital, analog, and mixed-signal design flows, teamwork, and advanced circuit techniques.
