Projects Selection in IEEE Solid State Circuit Society (SSCS) PICCO International Open Source Tapeout Contest 2021.

8 projects taped out on two ICs of 1mm2 each in TSMC 65 nm technology node, tapeouts were funded by NECOP. ICs named after Dr. Awais Kamal in acknowledgement of his services for Technology Development in Pakistan.IEEE SSCS Open Source Chipathon launched IEEE PICO Design Contest in 2021. Three (out of 18 globally selected) projects from FAST-ICD group accepted in IEEE SSCS PICO 2021 design Contest.

In PICO 2022 contest 22 proposal were selected across the globe, 08 were from Pakistans FAST-NUCES ICD Lab. The other 14 projects were selected from MIT-USA, UT Austin-USA, North Carolina University-USA, Austria, Egypt, & few more. Chips name dedicated to Aga Hasan Abdi (Founder of FAST-NU) and Prof. Asad Abidi (Prof of EE & Selfless IC design educator).

GS Microelectronics Inc. (GSME), and University of Nizwa Oman, envisaged the project of first IC Design Centre in Sultanate of Oman.

GS Microelctronics Inc. (GSME), and University of Nizwa Oman, envisaged the project of first IC Design Centre in Sultanate of Oman.FAST-NU got the responsibility of training of 93 Omani Engineers including hands-on ICD tools training and IC tapeouts in hybrid model, which is first of its kind ICD training practice globally.Training successfully concluded in September 2023 with tapeouts o9 projects on two ICs (Oman-1 & Oman-2)

Phase locked loop based tunable clock generator for ADC & DAC

This project involves the design of a phase-locked loop (PLL) based tunable clock generator, incorporating a Phase Detector (PD), Loop Filter (LP), Oscillator, and ClockDividers. These components work together to provide stable and accurate phasesynchronization. The design features a 2nd order loop filter and a Voltage-ControlledOscillator (VCO) with differential output frequencies ranging from 180-200 MHz and 90-110 MHz, catering to the ADC and DAC needs of lab bench setups for Analog Discoveries. It achieves impressive performance metrics, including a jitter of 500 fs and
